"JUNCTION: Longtime educator, Dr. Joe R. Andrews, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, after a brief illness. Joe was born in Junction on June 30, 1923: the son of Joe and Betty Andrews. He attended Junction schools, graduating in 1942. After serving in World War ll, he enrolled in Southwest Texas State College, where he met the love of his life, Jeanette Lyckman, of Brady. They were married on August 23, 1947, and were together for almost 61 years before her death in 2008. After graduating from college, Joe began his "professional career" as athletic coach progressing to high school principal and ultimately superintendent of schools. He was superintendent in Mertzon, Danbury, Hitchcock, Boling and Sonora; where he retired in 1983. Active in civic affairs, Joe served as a city councilman in Junction, was a member of the Lions Club, a ?York Rite' Mason and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Junction. Services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, Oct 30, at First Baptist Church in Junction, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Friends of the Kimble County Library, West Texas Rehab or your favorite charity. Services are entrusted to Gentry-Fife Funeral Home of Junction, Texas."

Joe married Jeanette Josephine Lyckman, daughter of John Edward Lyckman and Jennie Olive Anderson, on 23 Aug 1947. (Jeanette Josephine Lyckman was born on 13 Jul 1928 in , McCulloch County, Texas ^{2 4 5} and died on 19 Aug 2008 ^{2 4}.)
