  General Notes:

John Stapleton had large acreage and his cattle brand was 1S (one S) recorded 20, May 1840. Also brand (JC) recorded 21, July 1860.
John served in the Confederate army in the war between the states, also known as the "Civil War". See the "Confederate States Army Service pay to pvt. John Stapleton, 8, March 1862." His widow received Confederate Pension #00150 for his service.

After the war when the "Yellow Fever" became epidemic in Colorado, County. John sold his property and moved to Wimberley, Hays County, Texas where he farmed and ranched along the beautiful Blanco river.
