  General Notes:

At the time of the 1900 census, John Jasper was paying a mortgage to own his farm in Scurry County. At the time of the 1910 census, he was listed as a general farmer. He owned his farm free of any mortgage. When he registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was farming for himself near Brownfield, Terry County, Texas. His wife, Mary A., was his nearest relative. At the time of the 1930 census, John was farming in Parmer County, Texas. He owned his home on the farm. By 1935, the family had moved to rural New Mexico, but by 1940 they were back farming in Parker County, Texas.

J. J. born October 22, 1875 in Johnson county, Texas, and Mary Ann "Mollie" Fuller, born February 10, 1881 in Cameron, Milam County, Texas, were married December 12, 1897 in Caradan, Texas. After their marriage, they lived in Dunn and Brownfield, Texas until they moved to Estancia, New Mexico.

In November, 1924, after a four day trip in wagons, two covered for living quarters and two for supplies, they arrived in Bailey County from Estancia. Five of their eight children, D. B. Early in 1928 they returned to Muleshoe to farm in the YL Community. Two years later they moved to Parker County, Texas, only to decide Bailey County was home, thus returning in the late 1930s.

J.B. farmed with his father until he entered the United States Air Force. As a pilot, he flew the "Burma Hump" many times during WWII.

The Heads always had music in their home--an organ or piano and singing. John was a good singer, attended music schools and constantly stressed correct timing. The heads were faithful Methodists, always working in the Sunday School Department and worship service with John directing the singing. (Submitted by Mae Head Wilterding, Maurine Wilterding Hooten)
