Charlotte Louise Dalton, 46, of Austin died March 26, 1996, at Seton Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
Charlotte was born in Goldthwaite, Texas, and was a graduate of Goldthwaite High School. She moved to Austin and graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelors degree in Secondary Education. She received her masters degree in political science from Southwest Texas State University.
Charlotte joined the Austin Independent School District, where, for 23 years she was a devoted teacher and window to the world for her students.
Her education and experience were enhanced by her love of travel. Charlotte was energized by her excursions that took her to Africa, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, Mexico, Hawaii, Nevada, and several Caribbean Islands. She never lost her desire to travel.
Charlotte was a gifted poet and writer. She was the author of ''Sparkles Tidbits of Advice For Cats'', a primer for cat lovers that is sold in area book stores.
Dedicated to her students and the youth of Travis County, she was active in the Austin Travis County Livestock Show and Rodeo Bar-B-Que Cookoff. She was past-president of the Renegade Social Club Cookoff Team and co- founder of the Semoinole Rebels Bar-B- Que Cookoff Team. These teams participate in the Rodeo Cookoff to raise scholarship funds for the youth of Travis County. Her attendance at this year's rodeo activities was an inspiration to her teammates and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Robbie Dalton; her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Wigley; her nephew and his wife, Jamey and Shanna Wigley, all of Goldthwaite.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence E. Dalton and her niece, Regina Ann Wigley of Goldthwaite.
Pallbearers are Gary Benedict, Mike Conradt, Berry Gannaway, Ken Hoffman, Buck Looney and Lester Lundell. Honarary pallbearers are Marsha Conradt, Robbie Lou Gray, Carol Ann Hoffman, Rachel Lucksinger, Carla Searcey and Sallie Williams.
She was a member of the Riverbend Baptist Church in Austin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 29, 1996, at the First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite, under the direction of Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery.
As we say goodbye to Charlotte, we hope her beloved family, friends, co- workers, and former students find strength in her example. As she struggled with cancer she taught us to face life's hardships and challenges head on and with courage and dignity.
