Virginia Beth Long
Miss Virginia Beth Long passed away in Dallas Texas on November 30, 2016 at the age of 89 years, two months and 18 days. She was born September 12, 1927, the fourth child to James C. Long, Sr. and Mary Loretta Leverett Long. A memorial graveside service will be held at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
Virginia graduated Goldthwaite High School in 1943 and attended college at T.S.C.W. in Denton, Texas. She spent 43 years as an educator in the Dallas School Systems as a math professor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Goldthwaite, Texas and, in later years attended the White Rock Lake Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Texas State Teachers association and The Texas Retired Teachers Association.
Virginia is survived by John and Sue Hill, her loyal and life-long friends and caretakers. Surviving family members are sisters Magdalene (Mickey) Long McMillan, Brady, Texas, Maedell Long, San Antonio, Texas, Nell Crawford, Bertram, Texas, one brother, Wayne S. Long, Richland Hills, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Jim, Loretta Leverett Long, sister Loretta Mae Long, Thelma Faye Long and Brothers James C. Long, Jr., Albert W. Long, nieces Diane Kay Long and April Montgomery, nephews James Norman Poer and Jim Bob Long and Patricia Long, brothers-in-law Leon McMillan, Earl Crawford and Truman Long.
