GOLDTHWAITE — Dr. Marvin Childress, 94, of Goldthwaite, died Wednesday, July 20, 2015 in Goldthwaite.
He was born Nov. 28, 1920 in Bethany, Okla. To Marvin Otis Childress and Effie McConnel Childress. He married Gloria Mae Hanson in December 1944. He married Maxine Singleton Gist in 1964. He was a doctor and member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife Maxine Childress of Goldthwaite; children, Carolyn Sue Cockrum of Goldthwaite, Jim Childress and wife Marsha of San Saba, Roberta Stegemoller and husband Donnie of Brownwood, Beverly Harkey and husband Don of Austin, Dianna Spradley and husband Danny of Belton, Kathy Wheeler and husband Gary of Brownwood, Steve Gist and wife Kathy of Goldthwaite and Nancy West and husband David of Dallas; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Childress and wife Yvonne of Goldthwaite; and one sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Childress; sister, Harriette Childress Howard; and brother, William Childress.
