Bill Brooks was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 13, 2015.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1930, in Snyder, TX, to William T. Brooks and Mary Kelly. He moved to Modesto in 1938. He graduated from Modesto High School in 1949 and attended MJC until he enlisted in the Air Force.
After he returned from the service, he owned a body shop his entire career. He loved deer hunting, fishing, camping with family and friends and was very talented at creating miniature stagecoaches, buckboards and all kinds of horse-drawn carriages. He was a loyal 49er and Giants fan. Attending church at Calvary Chapel was a highlight of his week.
He is survived by Carol, his wife of 54 years; son, Todd Brooks; daughter, Kelli Brooks, all of Modesto; two nieces, Sandra Kuykendall of Modesto and Janie Yamaguchi of Hawaii; and several grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Baby David and Charles Brooks, and a sister, Dorothy Johns.
A military graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Monday, June 22, 2015, at 9 a.m. followed by a celebration of life and a reception at Calvary Chapel, 4300 American Ave., Modesto, CA.
