Funeral services for Kathleen Bessent Hackfeld, 79, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Chapel, 1415 Parker Street in Goldthwaite, Texas with Pastor Gilley officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Priddy, Texas under the direction of Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the funeral home.
Hackfeld died Monday, July 23, 2012, in Sweetwater, Texas.
She was born March 6, 1933, in Priddy, Texas to Clara Stegemoller and Bert Hopper. She married James Elzie Bessent on Aug. 19, 1951, in Priddy, Texas. They were married 43 years and he passed away in 1994. She married Willie Hackfeld and they were married eight years before he passed away in 2011. Kathleen lived most of married life in Sweetwater. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Rickey and Rhonda Bessent of Lubbock, Texas, Cheryl Henshaw and Randy of Sweetwater, Texas, Debra Bradley and John of Mesquite, Texas and Jimmy Bessent of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her siblings and their spouses, JoAnn Gault and Bill and Bobby Hopper and Sherry; two sisters-in-law and their families, Lola Bell Duren and Marie Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Clara Stegemoller Hopper; by both spouses, James Elzie Bessent and Willie Hackfeld; by a grandson, Michael Bessent; and an infant son James Rodney Bessent.
Pallbearers will be W.J. Hopper, Casey Bradley, Johnny Kunkel, Chad Morgan, Terry Kunkel and Adam Kearney.
