Jerry Collier
Jerry L. Collier, 82, of Abilene passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, in Abilene Texas.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, Abilene. Funeral services will be at 10 am, Friday, Dec. 18, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Mike Harkrider and Darrin Ray will be officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Jerry was born in Center City, Texas, to Archie & Gladie Collier on Dec. 2, 1938. He graduated from Goldthwaite High School. He married Elaine Griffin on May 29, 1960 in Goldthwaite.
Jerry worked at The Goldthwaite Eagle office as a young boy and continued in the printing business owning Collier Printing in Abilene. He served in the U.S. Army 1961-1963 and was stationed in S. Korea. He and Elaine enjoyed square dancing & served as an appointed officer in the State Federation of Square & Rounders. They enjoyed traveling & visited all 254 Texas county courthouses.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Millard (Bonez), Richard (Janet) Collier & niece Benita Kingston.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Abilene, sons Jeff (Monica) of Davenport, FL, & Mike (Michelle) of Abilene, 3 grandchildren, Katey Collier, Christopher Collier & Marc Collier, one nephew & two nieces; and a large extended family.
Jerry married I. Elaine Griffin, daughter of James Nelson Griffin and Ida Lydia Nauert.
