James Roy Smith, aka "John Smith," 88, of Mullin, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018, in Mullin.

Mr. Smith was born April 7, 1929, in Democrat, Texas. He was a son of James Elzie Smith and Sally Johnson.

He married Ima Jean Was-serman on June 5, 1949, in Mullin. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Mullin Masonic Lodge & Shriners. He worked for San-ta Fe Railroad from 1947 to 1963. He worked as a buyer for sheep and goats for the rest of his career until his death.

Surviving are his wife, Ima Jean Smith of Mullin; his children and their spous-es, John Carl and Sue Smith of Mullin, Tyline and Tom-my Green of Mullin, Faylene and Chipper Phillips of Mul-lin, and Sammy and Patri-cia Smith of Mullin; his 15 grandchildren, Scotty Wilson, Tonya Oliver, Travis Wilson, Clay Phillips, Robbie Phil-lips, Felisha Seider, Laci Rus-sell, Regena Ritter, Sabrena Green, Jamie Smith, Jennifer Driver, Jonathan Smith, Ja-son Smith, Shannon Mangus, and Kathy Amadorez; his 20 great-grandchildren; his sister, Ema Nell Carney of Manches-ter, NH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Elzie and Sally Johnson Smith; his four brothers, Arlie Smith, Edgar Smith, Buster Smith and Kyle Smith; three sis-ters, Fay Weeks, Lena Mae Bowden, and Isa Belle Cor-nelius; and his two grandsons, Sammy Wayne Minica and Zachary Wilson.

Visitation was held Fri-day, March 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stacy-Wilkins Fu-neral Home in Goldthwaite, Texas. Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel in Goldthwaite, with Jimmy Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Duren Cemetery in Mills County, Texas. all-bearers were his grandsons.

Arrangements were under the direction of Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home. 1
