  General Notes:

From the Goldthwaite Eagle, 16 Dec 1911.

Burned to Death

The 3-year-old daughter of J. M. Poer was burned so badly at the family home between Caradan and Pottsville on Dec. 2 that she died in a few hours. The little one was at play about the place and set fire to a patch of dry weeds and grass and her clothing was ignite from the blaze. Mr. Poer was at work in the field and saw the fire and hastened to the child's rescue, but she was so badly burned that her life could not be saved.

Mr. Poer's hands were both so badly burned while trying to save the child that it was feared for a time that he would lose the use of them, but the injuries have not proven to be so severe and he will not be permanently disabled. 3
