Services for Howard Chesser Held March 11

Howard Melvi Chesser, 68, of Mullin passed away Tuesday, March 9, 1976, at 7:20 p.m. in Childress Hospital in Goldthwaite. Funeral services for Mr. Chesser were conducted Thursday, March 11, at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Mullin. Interment was in Oakview Cemetery. Rev. Joe Rigsby and Rev. Ernest Roper officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilkins Funeral Home.

Born November 22, 1907, in Mills County, Texas, he was the son of Benjamin Elijah Chesser and Martha Louise Ragsdale Chesser. On December 23, 1936, he was married to Hazel Elizabeth Rouse in Mullin.

Mr. Chesser, a member of the Mullin First Baptist Church, lived his entire life in Mullin. One son, Gerald Arnold Chesser, precedes him in death.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Lanita Butler of Blanket and Mrs. Janeta Evans of Mullin; two sons, Clinton Dale Chesser of Snyder and Ivan Rayburn Chesser of Huntsville, Ala.; nine grandchildren; Three brothers, Ernest Chesser, Johnny Chesser and Deward Chesser, all of Mullin; and one sister, Mrs. Belva Cobb of Mullin.

Pallbearers wee Ray R. Anderson, William H. Pruitt, Clyde N. Reed, Hack Gatlin, Glenn Petty and G. S. Petty.

Howard married Hazel Elizabeth Rouse on 23 Dec 1936 in Mullin, Mills County, Texas. (Hazel Elizabeth Rouse was born on 16 Nov 1915, died on 24 Jun 1996 and was buried in Oakview Cemetery, Mullin, Mills County, Texas ².)
