J.C. Stewart, 79, of Goldthwaite, Texas, died Dec. 8, 2005, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood, Texas. The funeral service is today at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel in Goldthwaite, officiated by Terry Jackson, with burial to follow at Duren Cemetery in Mills County. Pallbearers are Troy Ratliff, Travis Head, Josh Stewart, Troy Miller, Lawrence Skonberg and Buddy Morgan.
Stewart was born Sept. 7, 1926, at Lake Victor, Texas, to Eva (Cowen) and Frank Stewart. He married Margie Gibbard in Gatesville, Texas, on Aug. 19, 1945. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation. He lived in the Mills County / Goldthwaite area most of his life.
Stewart was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nell Langley. Surviving family members include his wife, Margie Stewart of Goldthwaite; two daughters, Jeanie Mann and husband John of Golfthwaite, and Delores (Dee) Brewington and husband Neal of Capitan, N.M.; son Jeff Stewart and wife Becky of Goldthwaite; grandchildren Troy Ratliff and wife Lisa, D'Ann McDermott and husband Bob, Travis Head and Mindy Hash, Renae Head, Tara Miller and husband Troy, Heather Skonberg and husband Lawrence, Josh Stewart and wife Kacy, and Tessa Mann; six great-grandchildren; brother Alton Stewart and wife Ernestine, and sister Blanche Ince. 2
Jefferson married Margie Louella Gibbard.
