He was a cousin to John Wenmohs who married Ottilie's sister Luise. He kept the German spelling of his name.

Otto married Ottilie Goeth, daughter of Carl Alexander Goeth and Ottilie Fuchs, on 27 Jan 1891. (Ottilie Goeth was born on 2 Dec 1867 and died on 25 Dec 1936.)
