Mrs. Sarah McInnish
Resident of Spicewood 47 Years Dead
Marble Falls Messenger, 30 March 1933

Mrs. Sarah McInnish who has lived in the Spicewood Community for the past 47 years and mother of J. T. McInnish of that place, passed away last Monday morning at 11:30.

Mrs. McInnish was born in Alabama December 23rd, 1851, where she was united in marriage to D. A. McInnish and continued to live in this state until she, with her husband, moved to Texas. Sixty years ago, on Christmas Day, they landed in Texas, at Galveston. From Galveston they moved to Fayette County where they lived for only one year and then moved to Travis County. From Travis County they moved to Burnet County, bought them a home in the Spicewood community, where they reared their family of five sons and three daughters. Mrs. McInnish was 81 years of age December 23, 1932.

It has been the Editors pleasure to know Mrs. McInnish personally for the last thirty years and we have never known a more devoted woman to her family than was this good woman. She was a devoted Christian, having been converted at the early age of 15 years and since that time she has been a consistent member of the Methodist Church. One of the greatest pleasures that Mrs. McInnish got out of life, we believe, was during the many years that the old fashioned camp meetings were in progress at Rockvale. It was then that …[text missing] …erected their tent on the old camp grounds, and with their neighbors, spent two weeks every year in an old time revival camp meeting. These old pioneers really lived and enjoyed the old time religion.

Mrs. McInnish had been in ill health practically all of the past winter, heart trouble being the direct cause of her death. Mrs. McInnish died like she has been living for all of these years, with an abiding faith in the Lord, and is now safe with the Great Father of the universe, eternal in Heaven.

There were born to this family five sons and three daughters, two sons and one daughter having preceeded her in death. Of this number the following are still living and attended the funeral service, which was conducted by Rev. J. H. Thompson of the Methodist church of this place last Tuesday: J. T. McInnish, Spicewood; Mrs. Ola Naumann, Spicewood; W. D. McInnish, Dallas; and J. A. McInnish, Durant, Oklahoma.

The last remains of this good woman were laid to rest beside her husband in the Haynie Flat Cemetery last Tuesday in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends.

The Messenger condoles with these dear folks in this sad hour of affliction and sorrow and would point them to the Heavenly Father who doeth all things for the best.

May the mortal remains of Mrs. Sarah McInnish rest in peace.
