  General Notes:

Maxine's father, William Van Buren McGilvray, was born in Louisiana, her mother, Vela Dixon, in Texas. Her parents had married 19 May 1912 in Hamilton County, Texas. At the time of the 1920 census, the family lived in Star, Mills County, Texas, where her father farmed. She had a sister Leona. The twin brother listed in her obituary was not listed with the family. The family lived and farmed in Mills County at the time of the 1930 census also. They were next door neighbors to her future husband and his family.

GOLDTHWAITE -- Services for Maxine McCasland, 91, of Star will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 30 at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel with George Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in Center City Cemetery.

Mrs. McCasland died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Coryell Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 4, 1913 in Star to W.V. McGilbry and Vela Dixon McGilbry. She married Harmon McCasland June 13, 1935 in Gainesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister; and one twin brother.

Survivors include one son, Van Wilson McCasland and his wife, Louine, of Crowley; two daughters, Kay Miles and her husband, Clinton, of Star and Margaret Helms of Holland; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Social Security had her last residence as Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas.
