Stacy's parents were Samuel L. McCasland and Mattie Guinn. (His mother's brother was also named Stacy.) When Stacy registered for the WWI draft on 5 Jun 1917, he was a farmer near Center City, Mills County, Texas. He was single. At the time of the 1920 census, Stacy was farming a home farm in Pinos Wells, Torrance County, New Mexico. He was married with one child. He owned his home free of any mortgage. He said his father was born in Texas, his mother in Colorado. By the time of the 1930 census, the family had returned to Mills County, Texas. Stacy owned his farm, a general farm. On this census, he listed both parents as born in Texas.

Social Security had his last residence as Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas. He was a retired farmer.

Services for S McCasland January 21

Funeral services for Stacy P. McCasland of Goldthwaite were conducted Wednesday, January 21, 1976, at 2 p.m. in the Wilkins Funeral Chapel with Minister Edwin Young officiating. Interment was in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilkins Funeral Home.

Mr. McCasland, 83, passed away Monday, January 19, 1976, at 6:50 p.m. in the Brownwood Community Hospital.

Born August 5, 1892, in Mills County, Texas, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel L. McCasland.

On January 25, 1918, he was married to Verdie Ola Reid in Goldthwaite. She precedes him in death November 27, 1975. Mr. McCasland, a member of the Church of Christ, is survived by four sons, Denver of Bacliff, Texas, Vernon of Goldsmith, Texas, Kenneth of Hobbs, New Mexico and Elroy of Grand Prairie, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Ethylene Skaggs of Early; two brothers, Martin of Goldthwaite and Ercher of Brownwood; and fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John, Marty, Roy and James McCasland, Gary and Larry Skaggs, and Norwell Berglan.

Stacy married Verdie Ola Reid, daughter of William Ellis Reid and Mary Ethel Bradley, on 25 Jan 1918 in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas. (Verdie Ola Reid was born on 9 Oct 1896 in , Hamilton County, Texas,^{10 11 12} died on 25 Nov 1975 in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas ^{7 10 12} and was buried on 27 Nov 1975 in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery, Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas ^{12 13}.). The cause of her death was acute myocardial infarction.⁵
