Mr. Autry celebrated his 100th birthday at Liberty Methodist Church, Ashland, Benton County, Mississippi, on 27 Feb 2010.

Ashland - ENNIS LEROY AUTRY, age 101, died August 1, 2011 at Ashland Heath and Rehab in Ashland, MS. He was born February 25, 1910 in Benton County, MS and was a lifelong resident.

He served honorably in World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from the Mississippi State Highway Department in 1972 and went on to enjoy 39 years of retirement by fishing, 4-wheeling and visiting with family and friends. The old Abel's Store was a favorite gathering spot for him and his friends.

Mr. Autry was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mildred Jewel Matlock Autry; parents, Jeff and Willie Autry; sisters, Rivers Dickerson, Clara Bryant, Ruth Moody and Grace Autry. He is survived by one son, Shirley Lee Autry; one brother, William Thomas "W.T." Autry (Mildred) of Hickory Flat, MS; one sister, Josie Whitehead of Millington, TN, and several nieces and nephews.
