Louise Birdie Stoddart Lear, Elko County rancher, passed away at the age of 93. Louise was born to parents Burton and Charolotte Kleckner Stoddart, November 13, 1914 at their home ranch in Lee, Nevada. She attended grade school in Lee and Elko High School until the Great Depression ended her schooling.
She married the love of her life, Bill Lear on July 3, 1935. Together they worked on various ranches throughout Elko County and bought their first ranch in 1941. In 1961, Bill, Louise and their sons Kitt and Kay bought the ranch in Currie where Louise has resided ever since, aside from the short time she lived in Wells so that her grandchildren could live with her while going to high school.
Louise loved the outdoors. She was a self taught artist, a rock hound, and when it came to gardening, she had a green thumb. She ran the Currie Post Office out of her home for many years. Louise loved life, her husband Bill and her sons. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren as they were growing up. Louise was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons Kitt Lear of Unity, Oregon, and Kay (Kathy) Lear of Currie; grandchildren Norman (Treesa) Lear of Round Mountain, Nevada, Wynette (Mark) Beckett of Wells, Nevada, Sheri (John) Nalivka of Vale, Oregon, Dana Lear of Fairbanks, Alaska, Mary (Mark) Gamas of Boise, Idaho, Bill (Courtney) Lear and Wyatt Lear of Currie; and great-grandchildren Valerie Lear, Beau Alanis, Russell Beckett and Wynn Lear. She is preceded in death by parents, her husband Bill and her four brothers.
Louise loved her animals, especially her Welsh Corgis dogs. She loved the ranch life and was a true cowgirl. She always broke her own horses. People that stopped by the ranch were invited in for a cup of coffee and a chit chat.

Louise married William Lear, son of Darrell Wynn Lear Sr and Maud, on 3 Jul 1935.1 (William Lear was born on 10 Dec 1915 in Arkansas 4 and died in Oct 1975 4.)
