When Forrest registered for the WWI draft on 5 Jun 1917, he was a life insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, California. He had a wife and child and claimed an exemption for their support. By 1920 they had moved to Lemville, Elko County, Nevada, where Forrest was a mechanic in a garage. He rented his home.
