"The Murphree family originally came from Dublin, Ireland. One Daniel Murphree married Sarah Dempsey;they had twelve children. Seven of their sons migrated to America before the Revolutionary War. They were Solomon, Nimrod, David, Daniel II, Mills, William, and James. Solomon came to Blount County; Nimrod settled in Missouri; David went to Texas; Daniel came to Blount County; Mills settled in Georgia. William migrated to Tennesse; and James remained in North Carolina."
