Loretta's parents were William L. Lee ad Loretta M. Young. Her father was born in Tennessee, her mother in Texas. At the time of the 1910 census, the family lived in Johnson County, Texas, where her father and uncle Claud E. Lee farmed. She had an older brother, William D. At the time of the 1920 census, the family lived in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas. Her father was a machinist for the railroad. The new siblings were Thelma M., Weldon W., and Wendell L. Social Security had her last residence as San Pablo, Contra Costa County, California.

Loretta married Joseph Weldon Roe, son of James Albert Roe and Hannah E. Newby. (Joseph Weldon Roe was born on 19 May 1909 in , Johnson County, Texas ⁵ and died on 4 Mar 1959 in , Contra Costa County, California ⁵.)
