Alton Brooks McIver, 60 of Odem died on Aug. 3, 2009.

He was born Oct. 7, 1948 to A.B. and Audrey McIver.

McIver was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Odem, employed by Citgo for 32 years and was an avid tennis player.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Roy Vickers;and sister, Bettye Gail Odem.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Waters McIver of Odem; daughters, Annie (Brian) Box of Austin, and Saralyn McIver (Carlos) DeSantos of Houston; sisters, Patsy (Allen) Lawrence and Sissy (Richard) Thomas; brother, John McIver; grandchildren, Blake Box, Brody Box and a baby girl on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 4 p.m. in The First United Methodist Church in Odem.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 600, Odem, Texas 78370 or to the American Cancer Society.
