   Cause of his death was acute coronary occlusion. Other conditions were peptic ulcer, hemorrhage, pneumonia, and toxic psychosis.6

At the time of the 1900 census, His family lived in Washington County, Texas. His father had died and his mother was farming with the help of the 3 older girls. She owned the farm. His siblings were Mary, Lydia, Sophia, Herman, and Albert. His uncle, William Burger, lived with them and also worked on the farm. When Dan registered for the WWI draft on 5 Ju 1917, he was farming in Ballinger, Runnels County, Texas. He rented his farm from Joe Siedel. He had a wife and 2 children but didn't claim an exemption. At the time of the 1920 census, he was farming in Runnels County, Texas. He rented his home. A farm laborer Charley Smalbread, 36 born in Germany was boarding with his family.

Social Security had his last residence as Ballinger, Runnels County, Texas. He lived 3 miles south of Ballinger. According to his death certificate, he was a grocery merchant. The informant was Mrs. Gertrude Dorner.

Daniel married Chester Ann Rice, daughter of Doctor Davis Rice and Mary Jane Head. (Chester Ann Rice was born on 3 Mar 1897 in Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas,7 died on 27 Nov 1920 in , Runnels County, Texas 8 and was buried on 29 Nov 1920 in Belew Cemetery, Aubrey, Denton County, Texas 8 9.). The cause of her death was septicemia.6
