Albert's parents, James Washington Mason and Artie Lee Queen, were born in Texas. At the time of the 1910 and 1920 census, his family lived in Hamilton County, Texas, where his father farmed. At the time of the 1920 census, Albert was a laborer on the home farm. His siblings were Ora, Vernon, Velma, Audra and Leona. At the time of the 1930 census, Albert was renting his home. He was farming in Hamilton County, Texas. Albert and Laura lived many years in the house next to the Baptist Church in Center City, Mills County, Texas, where Laura's father Calvin Madison Head had lived. He farmed a place he bought about 7 miles south of Center City.
