At the time of the 1910, 1920, and 1930 census, the family lived in Winn Parish, Louisiana, where her father farmed. Her siblings were Lawerence, Hardy, Horace, Homer, Sarah (listed as Noah in 1930), Morgan, and Edna. She was not listed with the family in 1930. Alma taught Tom in school in Calvin, Winn Parish, Louisiana.
