At the time of the 1910 census, he was widowed and working as a printer in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. He boarded with John and Matilda Carey. (It seems that his mother was raising his son.) When Thomas registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was a printer for Journal Publishing Company, Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. His nearest relative was Earl Thomas Platt of Saint Joseph. At the time of the 1920 census, he was living in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, with his son, Earl T. 15, and widowed mother, Margaret L. He was a printer at the Journal Record. At the time of the 1930 census, his household consisted of wife, Georgia, step daughter Martha Rose, her husband Sam Utz, and their child Sam Jr. He also had a lodger, Dorothy Sutherland 12. His death certificate showed that he was a retired printer from the same company. He had lived in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, for 41 years. The cause of her death was coronary thrombosis due to essential hypertension.9 |
