  General Notes:

When Luther registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was a farmer and manager of Maypearl Gin Company, Maypearl, Ellis County, Texas. Ruby Wilemon was his nearest relative. (This may have been his nephew Claude's wife. They worked together at the gin.) At the time of the 1930 census, he was a cotton ginner. He owned his home in Maypearl valued at $1800. He was listed with wife, Annie Lee and son Perry. According to the death certificate, he worked 20 years in the farmer and gin business.

Luther married Cora Dawson, daughter of John Edward Dawson and Eliza Jane Tirey, about 1905. (Cora Dawson was born on 16 Mar 1886 in Texas, died on 12 Jul 1969 in Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas 7 and was buried in Maypearl Cemetery, Maypearl, Ellis County, Texas 5.). The cause of her death was cardiorespiratory failure due to pulmonary congestion.3

Luther next married Annie Lee Smith, daughter of James Franklin Smith and Myrtle Ann Hudson, about 1923. (Annie Lee Smith was born on 3 Jan 1894 in Texas,8 died on 28 May 1971 in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas 8 and was buried on 30 May 1971 in Maypearl Cemetery, Maypearl, Ellis County, Texas 5 8.). The cause of her death was circulatory collapse due to adenocarcinoma of uterus.3
