Shenny graduated in forestry from Penn State University. When he registered for the WWI draft on 5 Jun 1917, he was a forester with the Department of Forestry at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He claimed an exemption based on this employment. He worked for M & H Chevrolet in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania as an accountant. He loved to ride his motorcycle and Pansye would ride in the side car.

Shenny married Pansye Rouse Brosius, daughter of Dr William Hayes Brosius and Laura Frances Rouse. (Pansye Rouse Brosius was born on 21 Oct 1890 in Mont Alto, Franklin County, Pennsylvania 3 and died on 22 Aug 1980.)
