His siblings were George, Clara Jane, Laura E., Mary C., William G., Ida and Amelia. At the time of the 1870 census, the family was settled in Grand River, De Kalb County, Missouri, where his father farmed. The new children in the household were Joseph and Minnie. All the children were born in Pennsylvania. At the time of the 1900 census, Peter was a miller of flour, in Union, Daviess County, Missouri. He owned his home free of mortgage. A servant, Nora Wallace 18, was part of the household. He lived beside his wife's step great-grandmother, Margaret Brosius. His residence and occupation were the same in the 1910 census.
