At the time of the 1920 and 1930 census, he was proprietor of a marble yard in Brownwood. His son Paul and wife Bessie lived with them in 1920. In 1930 his home was valued at $3000. His son Edward lived with them at that time. He retired from monumental works. At the time of the 1940 census, Roy and Mattie were living at 1719 Vincent Street, Brownwood, Texas. The home was valued at $4000.
