At the time of the 1860 census, Daniel was a farmer in Blount County, Alabama. He had real estate valued at $400 and personal assets of $315. At the time of the 1880 census, he was farming in Blount County, Alabama. According to Orlando's death certificate, he became a bishop.

Daniel married Mary Bynum, daughter of Isaac Bynum and Nancy Murphree, about 1846. (Mary Bynum was born about 1829-1833 in , Blount County, Alabama, United States, died in 1897 in , Blount County, Alabama, United States ⁴ and was buried in Mount Ebell Cemetery, Rosa, Blount County, Alabama, United States ⁴.)
