When Charles registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was farming and carpentering in Oneonta, Blount County, Alabama. His wife, Ruth Sarah, was his nearest relative. He was disabled by rheumatism and kidney trouble. Tombstone inscription: Death is another life.
