  General Notes:

Excerpt from The Heritage of Blount County, Alabama Vol 5:

"In 1878 Dr. W. B. Allgood suggested the members (of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Blount County, Alabama) build a church of lumber. The boards were dressed by hand. Dr. W. B. Allgood, Steve Meadows, Frank Burnum and J. E. Bynum all gave $100. John Gallop was the carpenter and members assisted.

"The church was finished and dedicated by W. C. McCoy, the presiding Elder, on December 3, 1878.

"The old church (built of hewed logs in 1820 near Chepultepec) was left to the slaves of Stephen Ellis and Daniel Murphree. The Preachers were Tide Murphree, slave of Daniel Murphree and Jack Ellis, slave of Stephen Ellis."

Dr. Allgood received his medical training at Southern Medical College, Altlanta, Georgia, completed 1878. He practiced medicine from 1878 to Feb 1916 in Alabama.
